A Deeper Look at the Club Selection Process
This year’s roster reveal comes with plenty of anticipation, thanks to an expanded league and a revamped draft process that has everyone talking.
For the 2026 season, Unrivaled’s head coaches conducted an internal club draft to assemble their six-player rosters. The introduction of two expansion clubs, Breeze BC and Hive BC, increased the total number of clubs to eight, with 48 players in this year’s selection pool.
The league’s returning playoff contenders — Lunar Owls, Rose, Laces, and Vinyl — each had the option to protect two players from their inaugural season rosters. The two non-playoff teams, Mist and Phantom, were allowed to protect one player each. That left 38 players available for selection across the draft.
Expansion clubs Breeze and Hive couldn’t protect players, but they did get top billing on draft night. A coin toss determined who picked first, with Breeze winning the toss and claiming the first overall pick, while Hive followed with the second.
To keep things balanced, any club that protected players had to forfeit draft picks — one pick for each player protected, starting in the first round. Teams that protected two players lost their first- and second-round picks, while those with one protected player forfeited their first-round slot.
The remaining selections followed a modified snake draft format, designed to maintain fairness and competitive balance across all eight clubs.
The Player Pods: A Lineup of Pure Talent
To ensure diversity in play style and position depth, Unrivaled grouped the draft pool into six position-based pods (A–F), each containing eight elite athletes. Coaches were required to select one player from each pod, creating well-rounded, dynamic rosters built for competitive play.

The Build-Up to Season Two
With the addition of Breeze BC and Hive BC, Unrivaled’s 2026 season promises to be bigger, bolder, and more competitive than ever. The new club format, deeper player pool, and carefully balanced rosters set the stage for matchups that could redefine the league’s second year.
We see this reveal as more than a roster announcement. It’s a celebration of talent, progress, and the kind of creative structure that keeps women’s basketball thriving. From the protected veterans to the new faces joining the league, every player on this list is part of a movement that’s growing faster and shining brighter with every season.
Sip, celebrate, and spark impact. The future of the game is here, and Unrivaled is leading the way.
